Communication
May 15, 2021: Recently, your 6th grader designed a chemistry t-shirt using new awareness/knowledge of the periodic table of elements. I told students that if they wanted to create a actual shirt with their design, at home, they could wear it to school this Friday (5/21), on "Science T-shirt Day!" Their design can be placed on any shirt they already own with a blank space or be created on a new t-shirt (any color) using permanent marker or puffy paint. For those students that choose not to create their design, they may wear any science related shirt (with plants, animals, the earth, etc.) they already own, have borrowed, or buy. Participation is optional and is intended to encourage creativity and boost student spirit around science.

April 7, 2021:
Please be sure that your son/daughter is preparing to do well on this Friday's short quiz over the attached vocabulary and definitions. Students have these terms defined on google classroom completed, but I wanted to make sure you are in the loop, too. We will review target #3 tomorrow (yes, students will have a study guide) and prepare for a quiz on Monday. This way, students can study over the weekend. Recap: Quiz this Friday over vocabulary (study attached); LT3 general quiz this coming up Monday (be looking for the study guide that we will complete tomorrow, Thursday, and review it this weekend).

March 16, 2021: One last reminder for your 6th grader to review TONIGHT for tomorrow's learning target 2 vocabulary quiz (Wednesday). Information can be found in last Thursday's google classroom (student sheet, definitions, and a slideshow). I am also including information for your scholar, here: https://roypride.weebly.com/uploads/1/8/2/5/18250791/lt2_vocabulary_list_-_key.pdf Students know that this is a one-time-only quiz, with no retakes.

March 14, 2021: This is a reminder to your 6th grader to review for this Wednesday's learning target 2 vocabulary quiz. Information can be found in last Thursday's google classroom (student sheet, definitions, and a slideshow). I am also including information for your scholar, here: https://roypride.weebly.com/uploads/1/8/2/5/18250791/lt2_vocabulary_list_-_key.pdf Last week, students researched one, of many, geologic processes on earth. We are excited to see/hear what they "dug up" via slideshow presentations this week. Please allow your middle schooler to practice in front of your family so they feel prepared. Checking their "works cited" (online resource links) would be helpful. Some students are reporting a search engine, when I really hope that they use where that search engine took them to. This link will be a lot longer but will have the search engine link within it. If you could double check this on their research notes and slideshow, I would appreciate it. Students know about the upcoming quiz and slideshow presentations, but I find that if I also inform parents, students are usually more successful. These will be some of their 1st scores on infinite campus for 3rd trimester and I know starting out strong is always easier than spending all of their energy trying to pull up their grade. Enjoy the sunshine outside!
